Volkswagen achieves a 25% reduction in environmental impact ahead of time

German automaker Volkswagen has achieved its goal of improving the environmental impact of its vehicle production activities by 25% compared to 2010, initially estimated for 2018, the company said in a statement.
The company's Production and Logistics Manager, Thomas Ulbrich, said that his company achieved more than expected this objective and said that its intention is to increase this percentage by an additional 20%, until a reduction in the impact on the environment is achieved. Through this program, the corporation has implemented 5,300 different measures to reduce emissions and optimize the use of resources in its production centers. Thus, Volkswagen has achieved that eight of its facilities can meet their energy needs through renewable sources.
The company based in Wolfsburg said that thanks to the reduction of energy consumption in its centers, through the program Think Blue. Factory, has achieved a saving of 130 million euros in its vehicle manufacturing operations during the six years in which this initiative has been operational.
