The Volkswagen group increases its sales by 7.4% in the first quarter, to 2.67 million vehicles     MADRID, 16 (EUROPA PRESS)   The Volkswagen automobile group sold more than 2.67 million vehicles worldwide in the first quarter of the year, which represents an increase of 7.4% in registrations compared to the first three months of 2017, as announced by the company in a statement.   By markets, the firm delivered more than 1.14 million vehicles in Europe, 4.1% more, of which 954,400 units were sold in Western Europe, representing an increase of 2.8%. For its part, in Germany the company registered 329,800 cars in the first quarter, 3% more.   In North America, the company's sales increased by 3.4% from January to March, to 221,000 units, especially in the United States, where group registrations grew by 9.9%, with 148,900 vehicles.   In South America, the company also recorded an increase in deliveries in the first quarter, 5.6% over the same period last year, to 128,700 cars. On the other hand, in Asia-Pacific the sales of the Volkswagen group increased by 12%, to more than 1.09 million vehicles, of which more than 1.01 million cars were registered in China, with a growth of 13 ,4%.   RECORD IN MARCH   In the month of March, the Volkswagen group delivered more than 1.04 million vehicles worldwide, which is the best March in its history and an increase of 5.3% compared to the third month of 2017. Europe returned to being the region where more of the company's cars were marketed in March, with 479,900 units, up 1.2%, of which 407,400 were sold in Western Europe, down 0.7% compared to the same month last year.   In North America, the Volkswagen Group registered 83,900 vehicles in March, 5.1% more, while in South America the company delivered 50,700 cars, growing 8.3% over the previous year.   In Asia-Pacific, the company's sales increased by 9.6% compared to March 2017, to 391,400 vehicles, highlighting the case of China, where group registrations grew by 10.6% to 358,800 cars.   MARKS   By brand, Volkswagen Passenger Cars delivered more than 1.52 million vehicles worldwide in the first three months of the year, which is 5.9% more than in the same period of the previous year, of which 584,700 units they were sold in March, 4.9% more. For its part, Audi increased its registrations by 9.8% to 463,800 units, while in March the firm delivered 183,700 automobiles, 6% more.   Skoda was placed until March as the third brand of the group that sold more vehicles, up to 316,700 units, 11.7% more, growing in March 10.7%, up to 120,200 units. In addition, Seat grew 18.7% in the first quarter, to 139,200 vehicles, while in March the company registered 60,400 cars, 13.5% more.   The brand of sports cars Porsche delivered 63,500 units until March, which is 6.3% more than in the first quarter of last year, of which 23,400 units were sold in the third month of the year, 0.8% less .   MAN sold 30,600 vehicles, ranking as the group's brand that grew the most between January and March, up 21.3% compared to the same period last year. In the month of March, the company registered 12,600 units, 17.8% more.   Scania sold 22,600 vehicles until March, 9.6% more, while in the third month of the year it decreased its deliveries by 5.7% to 8,300 units. For its part, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles was the only brand of the group that decreased its registrations in the first quarter, 5.9% less, to 114,700 vehicles, of which 48,600 units were registered in March, 9.3% less.
