BMW will invest more than ten million euros in a new campus of 3D parts printing   MADRID, 16 (EUROPA PRESS)   The BMW group will invest more than ten million euros in a new campus manufacturing parts through additive methods north of Munich (Germany), which is known under the term '3D printing', which will allow the firm continue to develop its experience in this segment, as reported in a statement.   The new campus will promote the latest production technologies through additive methods in the same way as a pilot plant. Much of the work that will be carried out there will focus on the manufacture of parts for the construction of prototypes, mass production and customized solutions.   The Campus of Additive Manufacturing will be located in a building of more than 6,000 square meters with capacity for up to 80 workers and more than 30 industrial systems for metals and plastics. According to the group's forecasts, it will start operating in early 2019.   The director of Production Strategy, Technical Integration and Pilot Plant, Udo Hänle, explained that the new campus will concentrate the entire 3D printing experience of the BMW group in a single location.   For his part, the director of the Group's Additive Manufacturing Center and future campus director, Jens Ertel, has indicated that the team "will evaluate new and existing technologies in the printing of plastics and metals and develop them to maturity." "Our goal is to provide the technology and the optimal process chain, whether for individual components, small production runs or even for large-scale manufacturing," he said.
