The Volkswagen group achieved a world record sales figure in January, with almost 900,000 units   WOLFSBURG (GERMANY), 16 (EUROPE PRESS)   The German car group Volkswagen sold a total of 898,700 vehicles of all brands worldwide in the first month of 2018, representing an increase of 10.1% compared to 2017 figures, according to data published by the company .   Faced with these commercial results, the Sales Manager of the consortium, Fred Kappler, pointed out that the different brands that make up the company experienced an "excellent" start to the year in terms of sales.   "In total, the group's worldwide sales grew by 10.1% in January," said the Wolfsburg-based company's board member, "this is the best start to the year in the company's history."   By region, the corporation enrolled 332,600 units in Europe in January, 5.5% more, and 67,900 units in North America, 2% more. Deliveries in South America rose 21.2% last month, with 48,000 units, and 14.5% in Asia-Pacific, reaching 421,500 units.   SEAT IMPROVES 20.4% OF ITS SALES.   By brands, the Spanish Seat sold a total of 38,900 vehicles in all markets in which it operates in the first month of the current year, which translates into a rise of 20.4% compared to that month of 2017.   For its part, Volkswagen Turismos registered 533,500 units worldwide in January, 7.1% more, and Audi improved its monthly business records by 20.3%, to 149,100 units. Skoda also increased deliveries by 10.7% to 103,800 units.   The Porsche sports firm closed the first month of 2018 with a delivery figure of 22,400 units, 12% more, while Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles enrolled 34,500 units, down 1.4%.   The sales of the German manufacturer of industrial vehicles MAN improved 29.7% in January, up to 8,300 units, while the commercial figure of Scania last month stood at 7,200 units, up 30.3%.
